Dog-Ice Starter Kit

Coconut flakes are not just a neutral carrier. They contain medium-chain fatty acids (MCTs), including about 50% lauric acid—a fatty acid with natural antimicrobial activity, particularly against certain bacterial and fungal cultures in the oral cavity.

We choose coconut flakes as the main ingredient in FRESHIES because they complement the core mechanism of action of the mushroom-polyphenol complex. While the mushroom extract binds odor-causing molecules in the digestive tract, lauric acid acts directly in the mouth on the bacteria responsible for bad breath. Two mechanisms, one common goal.

For your dog, this means a tasty snack that provides a satisfying chew while also harnessing the antimicrobial effects of MCTs in the mouth—without essential oils or synthetic flavors.

Our yogurt powder is yogurt from which the water has been removed. Just two ingredients, nothing more: skim milk and yogurt cultures. About 35% protein, less than 1.5% fat, and a pH of 4.0 to 4.3—the acidity comes from fermentation, not from any additives.

We choose yogurt powder as the base for Dog-ICE because the fermentation process has already converted some of the lactose into lactic acid. At the same time, the milk protein matrix gives the frozen mixture its creaminess—which is why Dog-ICE doesn’t require any thickeners, emulsifiers, or flavorings. What works in a yogurt jar works just as well in a dog bowl.

For your dog, this means a creamy snack made with a base that many dogs tolerate better than plain milk. But here’s the thing: it still contains milk protein—so dogs with a milk protein intolerance should avoid Dog-ICE.

Banana powder is 100% freeze-dried banana—with no added sugar, no artificial flavors, and no fillers. In the freeze-drying process, water is extracted from the frozen fruit at low temperatures instead of being boiled out. The color, flavor, and heat-sensitive nutrients are largely preserved.

We choose bananas because they do two things at once. They provide the natural sweetness that makes this snack appealing without added sugar—and they supply pectin, a soluble dietary fiber that binds water and forms a gel-like structure in the intestines. Plus, they provide potassium and magnesium from the fruit itself.

For your dog, that means: an ice cream that tastes like fruit because it contains fruit—with a fiber content that soothes rather than strains the digestive system.

Raspberry powder consists of 100% freeze-dried raspberries. The berries are frozen, the water is extracted directly from the ice under vacuum, and then they are ground. This is the gentlest way to preserve the red pigments—and these pigments are also the active ingredient here.

We choose raspberries because their red color comes from anthocyanins and their seeds provide ellagic acid. Both are among the most powerful plant-based antioxidants and neutralize free radicals, which are produced during any physical activity. With about 11 g of dietary fiber per 100 g, raspberries also contain more fiber than most fruits.

For your dog, that means a summery snack that also provides antioxidant protection—and a color that comes from the berry itself, not from a paint can.

Inulin is a fructan, a chain of fructose building blocks. Dogs cannot break it down because they lack the necessary enzyme. Our inulin is extracted from the heart of the blue Weber agave—with at least ten units per chain, over 90% dietary fiber, and about 5 g of sugar per 100 g. It has a slightly sweet taste but is still classified as fiber, not sugar.

We use agave inulin in Dog-ICE because it reaches the large intestine undigested and is fermented there by bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. This process produces short-chain fatty acids, primarily butyrate—the preferred energy source of the intestinal mucosa. Another practical benefit: Inulin dissolves completely in water and binds moisture. This gives the frozen mixture structure without the need for a thickening agent.

For your dog, this means a snack that supports their gut flora. It all comes down to the amount—fiber takes some getting used to, and too much at once can cause gas. That’s why we’re careful to use it sparingly and recommend introducing it gradually.

Triphala literally means “three fruits”: Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica), and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), ground in equal parts. The formula is over two thousand years old and is one of the most thoroughly studied herbal preparations in Ayurveda. It contains astringents, tannins, and natural vitamin C from the amla fruit.

We include Triphala in our herbal complex because, when combined, the three fruits achieve something that none of them can do on its own: they have a balancing effect rather than acting in just one direction. Tannins and bitter compounds support regular digestion, regardless of whether it has become irregular in one direction or another. In addition, Triphala has antioxidant properties that protect the intestinal mucosa from oxidative stress.

For your dog, this means: calm, regular digestion and additional cellular protection—from a formula that has stood the test of time for centuries because it is gentle enough for daily use.

Vetiver is a grass, but it is not the leaves that are used, but rather its deep-reaching roots. In Ayurveda, it is called “Ushira” and is classified as a cooling plant—in India, it is traditionally added to summer beverages. Its essential oils consist mainly of sesquiterpenes such as khusimol and vetiverone.

We include vetiver in the herbal blend of Dog-ICE because its properties are well-suited to the occasion. The sesquiterpenes have a calming effect on the autonomic nervous system, and the root also contains antioxidant tannins. In Ayurvedic medicine, Ushira is the plant used to treat heat and restlessness—precisely the two conditions a frozen snack is designed to address.

For your dog, this means a snack that not only physically cools him down on hot days but also, according to Ayurvedic principles, helps him cool down from the inside.
