Why at all?

When it tips over, the dog slows down.

He's panting. He's seeking shade. He's leaving his food untouched. At 28 degrees, the walk isn't fun anymore, and he's not interested in the treat that usually works.

Most people then resort to one of two things — neither of which is intended for dogs.

Ice cubes

Cold, hard, gone in two seconds. No fun, no nutritional value, and the sharp edges aren't good for sensitive teeth.

Human Ice Cream

Sugar, lactose, flavorings. And, depending on the variety, xylitol—which can be life-threatening to dogs in even small amounts. It’s not a risk worth taking.

Nothing

The most common scenario. The dog is lying down, the afternoon is over, and the reward just doesn't happen.

Dog-ICE is the third option: ice cream made for dogs. Cold enough to cool them off, creamy enough to lick, and free of anything that doesn't belong in it.

The Difference

Why not just use ice cubes?

A 90-gram package makes about 250 grams of ice—roughly two ice molds. For a 20-kilogram dog, that’s enough to last several hot days. When you break it down, that refreshing treat costs less than a cup of coffee.

Here's what's inside

A short list, clear origins.

The base is yogurt powder with coconut flakes—creamy and with no added sugar. It’s combined with a blend of herbs, including triphala and vetiver. Agave inulin serves as a plant-based source of fiber. And that’s the whole recipe.

Yogurt powder

Yogurt powder

Yogurt powder

Fermented skim milk, gently dried into powder. Provides high-quality milk protein and the subtle tartness that gives Dog-ICE its distinctive character.
Coconut flakes

Coconut flakes

Coconut flakes

Medium-chain fatty acids (MCTs) with natural antimicrobial effects in the oral cavity. Complements the fungal polyphenol complex to combat bad breath.
Agave inulin

Agave inulin

Agave inulin

Soluble dietary fiber from the heart of the blue weaver agave, over 90% pure fiber. It is not digested by the dog, but rather by its gut bacteria—a classic prebiotic.
Triphala

Triphala

Triphala

The classic Ayurvedic trio of fruits: Amalaki, Bibhitaki, Haritaki. They help balance digestion rather than forcing it in one direction.
Vetiver

Vetiver

Vetiver

Ayurvedic cooling root, known as “Ushira.” Its essential oils have a calming effect—the obvious choice for a frozen snack.
Yogurt powder
Snacks

Yogurt powder,fermented skim milk

Our yogurt powder is yogurt from which the water has been removed. Just two ingredients, nothing more: skim milk and yogurt cultures. About 35% protein, less than 1.5% fat, and a pH of 4.0 to 4.3—the acidity comes from fermentation, not from any additives.

We choose yogurt powder as the base for Dog-ICE because the fermentation process has already converted some of the lactose into lactic acid. At the same time, the milk protein matrix gives the frozen mixture its creaminess—which is why Dog-ICE doesn’t require any thickeners, emulsifiers, or flavorings. What works in a yogurt jar works just as well in a dog bowl.

For your dog, this means a creamy snack made with a base that many dogs tolerate better than plain milk. But here’s the thing: it still contains milk protein—so dogs with a milk protein intolerance should avoid Dog-ICE.

Coconut flakes
FRESHIES

Coconut flakes (Cocos nucifera)

Coconut flakes are not just a neutral carrier. They contain medium-chain fatty acids (MCTs), including about 50% lauric acid—a fatty acid with natural antimicrobial activity, particularly against certain bacterial and fungal cultures in the oral cavity.

We choose coconut flakes as the main ingredient in FRESHIES because they complement the core mechanism of action of the mushroom-polyphenol complex. While the mushroom extract binds odor-causing molecules in the digestive tract, lauric acid acts directly in the mouth on the bacteria responsible for bad breath. Two mechanisms, one common goal.

For your dog, this means a tasty snack that provides a satisfying chew while also harnessing the antimicrobial effects of MCTs in the mouth—without essential oils or synthetic flavors.

Agave inulin
Snacks

Agave Inulin (Agave tequilana Weber var. azul)

Inulin is a fructan, a chain of fructose building blocks. Dogs cannot break it down because they lack the necessary enzyme. Our inulin is extracted from the heart of the blue Weber agave—with at least ten units per chain, over 90% dietary fiber, and about 5 g of sugar per 100 g. It has a slightly sweet taste but is still classified as fiber, not sugar.

We use agave inulin in Dog-ICE because it reaches the large intestine undigested and is fermented there by bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. This process produces short-chain fatty acids, primarily butyrate—the preferred energy source of the intestinal mucosa. Another practical benefit: Inulin dissolves completely in water and binds moisture. This gives the frozen mixture structure without the need for a thickening agent.

For your dog, this means a snack that supports their gut flora. It all comes down to the amount—fiber takes some getting used to, and too much at once can cause gas. That’s why we’re careful to use it sparingly and recommend introducing it gradually.

Triphala
Herbal Complex

Triphala: Emblica officinalis · Terminalia bellerica · Terminalia chebula

Triphala literally means “three fruits”: Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica), and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), ground in equal parts. The formula is over two thousand years old and is one of the most thoroughly studied herbal preparations in Ayurveda. It contains astringents, tannins, and natural vitamin C from the amla fruit.

We include Triphala in our herbal complex because, when combined, the three fruits achieve something that none of them can do on its own: they have a balancing effect rather than acting in just one direction. Tannins and bitter compounds support regular digestion, regardless of whether it has become irregular in one direction or another. In addition, Triphala has antioxidant properties that protect the intestinal mucosa from oxidative stress.

For your dog, this means: calm, regular digestion and additional cellular protection—from a formula that has stood the test of time for centuries because it is gentle enough for daily use.

Vetiver
Herbal Complex

Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides)

Vetiver is a grass, but it is not the leaves that are used, but rather its deep-reaching roots. In Ayurveda, it is called “Ushira” and is classified as a cooling plant—in India, it is traditionally added to summer beverages. Its essential oils consist mainly of sesquiterpenes such as khusimol and vetiverone.

We include vetiver in the herbal blend of Dog-ICE because its properties are well-suited to the occasion. The sesquiterpenes have a calming effect on the autonomic nervous system, and the root also contains antioxidant tannins. In Ayurvedic medicine, Ushira is the plant used to treat heat and restlessness—precisely the two conditions a frozen snack is designed to address.

For your dog, this means a snack that not only physically cools him down on hot days but also, according to Ayurvedic principles, helps him cool down from the inside.

When

Not against anything—just for a moment.

Dog-ICE is not a substitute for food and does not cure anything. It helps with three situations during the summer.

2:00 p.m., 29 degrees

The Hot Afternoon

He's lying on the tile floor, not moving. One serving of Dog-ICE straight from the mold, and suddenly he has something to do again. He licks it for ten minutes, then falls asleep, completely relaxed.

Back from the Forest

After the run

Relaxing is half the battle. Licking soothes, cools you from the inside, and serves as a substitute for the treat you’d otherwise skip on a hot day.

Every evening, at the same time

The Little Ritual

Mix it four hours ahead of time, and it'll be ready by evening. Dogs love routine—and you'll have a set time each day that belongs to the two of you.

Here's how to do it

Done in three steps .

No cooking, no additives. Just powder, water, or yogurt—and a little patience in the freezer.

1

Mixing

Put 60 g of powder into a tall glass and slowly add 200 ml of cold water. Stir until the mixture is smooth. Any small lumps will dissolve on their own as the mixture freezes.

2

Into the ice mold

Pour the mixture into the silicone mold. Or into a bowl if you're in a hurry.

3

Freezing

Put it in the freezer for 4–6 hours. And there you have it—homemade ice cream for your dog.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dog-ICE

Before you decide.

Dog-ICE

At what outdoor temperature does DOG-ICE become useful?

Starting at about 25 °C. Or, generally speaking, on days when your dog is panting, seeking shade, and eating less.

Is DOG-ICE also suitable for puppies and older dogs?

Yes. Smaller portions for puppies; normal portions for older dogs.

Can I freeze portions to have on hand?

Yes. They'll keep just fine in the freezer for several weeks.

How do I prepare DOG-ICE?

One full package contains 60 g of powder and makes two ice cream molds: Mix 60 g with 200 ml of water. For one ice cream mold, use half a package—30 g with 100 ml.

For a creamier version, stir in plain yogurt instead of water. Then place it in the freezer for four to five hours, depending on the container.

How many times a day can my dog have DOG-ICE?

One to two servings a day are fine. It's a snack, not a meal replacement.

Ordering & Shipping

Are there any samples I can try out?

Yes—that's what our sample packs are for. The powder is free; you only pay for shipping. That way, you can find out if your dog will even eat that flavor before you buy a whole bag.

There isn't a separate sample pack for Freshies; if you're unsure, our 90-day satisfaction guarantee is here to help.

How much does shipping cost, and how long does delivery take?

We offer free shipping within Switzerland and to Liechtenstein for orders of CHF 60 or more; for orders under that amount, a flat shipping fee of CHF 9 applies. Delivery usually takes two to three business days from the date of order.

Once your order has been shipped, you'll receive an email with tracking information. If the package hasn't moved within five to seven business days, we'll file a claim with the postal service—just contact us with your order number.

What payment methods can I use?

You can pay conveniently with TWINT, PostFinance, or a credit card. If TWINT isn't available as an option during the checkout process, it's usually due to your browser or an incomplete order—please refresh the page or send us a quick message, and we'll help you right away.
