Why This Complex?
Four principles set the
apart.
These four points are precisely why our flaxseed complex isn't "just another flaxseed product."
Patented Process
A high-pressure cooking and extrusion process optimally cracks open the seed—which is what makes all the valuable nutrients available in the first place.
Highest Bioavailability
Antinutritional factors are eliminated, making nutrients highly bioavailable and easily digestible—for maximum effectiveness in dogs.
Consistent Quality
Each batch is tested for its nutritional values using NIR analysis. Consistent levels of omega-3, protein, and fat—every time.
Scientifically proven
More than 400 studies* document the effectiveness of the decomposition process—a foundation built on research rather than promises.
The Process
Nine steps from grain to powder.
Every step is quality-assured and documented. At the center lies the core of the patent.
Preparation
Levels 1–4 · A defined initial mass is produced from many batches.
-
01
Seed Selection
Each batch of seed is tested using NIR analysis and stored separately based on its omega-3 content, protein content, and purity.
-
02
Weighing
Sequential formulation — several hundred formulations are possible, based on approximately 40 raw materials.
-
03
Grinding
The shells are cracked open. A controlled particle size is what makes the omega-3 fatty acids accessible in the first place.
-
04
Mix
Homogenization using technological carriers—this ensures a consistent fat and nutrient content throughout the entire batch.
Analysis
Level 5–6 · This is what sets it apart from any ground flaxseed.
-
05
Heat & Enzyme Treatment
The antinutritional factors in the seeds are destroyed through precisely controlled temperature, time, and humidity, combined with the activation of the body's own enzymes.
-
06
Thermomechanical Treatment
The core of the patent: A carefully calibrated combination of temperature, pressure, and shear force completely opens up the seed and dramatically improves its digestibility.
The Core of the Patent
Stabilization
Grades 7–9 · The opened item is preserved without damaging it.
-
07
Drying
A stream of hot air at a maximum of 60 °C—gentle and controlled. This keeps the omega-3 fatty acids stable.
-
08
Cooling
Stabilization using ambient air. This results in a product that is stable during storage and reliably retains its active ingredients.
-
09
Packaging & Final Inspection
Only after undergoing another round of quality control are the flaxseeds packaged. Traceable and labeled.
Why Processing Matters
A seed is only as valuable as its
availability.
The same seed, five ways to process it—and five very different results in dogs.
- Whole Seed
The shell remains largely intact—the oils remain mostly unused and are excreted by the dog.
- Ground
Initial oil release — but rapid oxidation occurs, and the antinutritional factors remain active.
- Toasted
Antinutritional factors have been partially reduced—however, oil accessibility remains limited.
- Expanded
Better dissolution — but non-uniform and without controlled drug release.
- Cooked and extruded · tradidog
Complete digestion, controlled and slow release of omega-3 fatty acids—available throughout the entire digestive tract.

What's Inside the Seed
Three forces, one grain.
If you focus only on omega-3, you're only seeing one-third of the picture. Two other factors are what make it capable of delivering its full benefits to dogs.
Kraft 01
Omega-3 (ALA)
Alpha-linolenic acid is the best-known component of flaxseed. It is incorporated into cell membranes and supports healthy skin and coat, joint comfort, and a balanced inflammatory response.
Works throughout the entire body
Power 02
Mucilages
When exposed to water, the mucilage in the seed coat swells into a fine gel. It forms a film over the lining of the stomach and intestines, protecting them from irritation. This gel is also the reason why the active ingredients are released slowly and in a protected manner rather than all at once.
Protects and delays
Kraft 03
Dietary Fiber
Soluble dietary fiber serves as food for the beneficial gut bacteria. It regulates bowel movements, promotes a balanced gut flora, and thereby strengthens the body’s natural defenses.
Nourishes and regulates
Omega-3 works in dogs. Mucilage and dietary fiber ensure that it actually reaches its destination.
Slow Food in the Gut
Not a burst of energy—a
long-term commitment.
Pure flaxseed oil is absorbed in a single dose. The broken-down whole seeds slowly and gently release their active ingredients—slowed by the mucilage gel—throughout the entire digestive tract.
- 100% pure flaxseed oil
- 80% Tradidog Extruded Flaxseed
- 60% extruded flaxseed · untreated with enzymes
- 30% ground flaxseed · not heat-treated

Image 01 · Nature
Like the whole haul
In nature, dogs do not consume omega-3 as an isolated oil, but rather as part of whole prey—fish, game, and offal. It is absorbed slowly, protected, and fully metabolized.
Figure 02 · The Comparison
Seeds Instead of Oil
Pure flaxseed oil oxidizes quickly. The whole, processed seed provides omega-3 fatty acids protected by mucilage, dietary fiber, and antioxidants—the seed is more than just its oil.
Figure 03 · The Principle
Slow Food in the Gut
The swollen mucilage gel gradually releases the active ingredients. Instead of causing a spike in blood levels, the heat-extruded seed provides a continuous release—a sustained effect rather than a short-lived one.
In the dog
One ingredient, six areas of action.
That is precisely what sets a fully bioavailable natural product apart—it doesn't act on just one area, but on several at the same time.
Skin & Coat
Rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, omega-3) — supports healthy skin and a shiny, supple coat.
Digestion
Mucilage forms a protective layer over the intestinal lining, while soluble fiber regulates bowel movements and promotes a balanced gut flora.
Immune System
Soluble fiber strengthens the body's natural defenses and improves resistance to infections.
Joints
Supports the production of synovial fluid — natural lubrication and improved mobility.
Energy
A high-quality plant-based energy source — a sustainable alternative to lower-quality fat sources.
Cell Protection
Antioxidant ingredients protect cells from oxidative stress.
A Common Objection
"Flaxseed doesn't contain any EPA or DHA—is that even enough?"
That’s a valid question we get asked regularly. Flaxseed is rich in ALA. Dogs can produce a certain amount of EPA and DHA from it on their own. If you want to significantly increase the levels of these two fatty acids, you’ll need to use algae or fish oils—but in most cases, that isn’t necessary at all.
What’s more, extruded flaxseed provides not only omega-3 but a whole range of nutrients, including fiber, protein, and bioactive plant compounds—to support digestion, skin, coat, and overall well-being. Pure oil cannot do that.
How We Make Quality Visible
We don't just talk about quality—we measure it.
Four key metrics against which our analysis process can be evaluated.
Procedure
Scientific experiments* on the patented digestion process.
Batch
Near-infrared analysis of each batch — omega-3, protein, and fat content.
Drying
Maximum temperature in the hot-air flow — gentle and controlled.
Storage
Batches are stored separately based on their composition.
In comparison
The difference is not gradual—
it is fundamental.
We respect every manufacturer that strives to produce healthy dog food. Still, we want to be honest so that you can make an informed decision.
| tradidog | Other Brands | |
|---|---|---|
| Form of Flaxseed | Cook-extruded using a patented process | Often raw or simply ground |
| Antinutritional Factors | Eliminated through heat and enzyme treatment | May still be present and cause digestive discomfort |
| Bioavailability | Maximum Intake of Omega-3 Fatty Acids | Low to moderate — many nutrients are excreted |
| Release of the oils | Slowly and steadily through the digestive tract | In surges or unevenly |
| Quality Control | NIR analysis of each batch, consistent values | Rarely analyzed on a batch-by-batch basis |
| Scientific Evidence | Over 400 studies*, patented process | Rarely documented |
Our Promise
Raw alone isn't enough.
Nature has created in flaxseed one of the most valuable
