The Description

35 grams doesn't tell you whether it works, but only
whether he'll eat it at all.

35 grams isn't a diet. It's enough for about one meal and answers the one question no one can answer beforehand: Will he even eat it?

SENIOR is designed for older dogs. You won’t see results after just one meal—it takes two to three weeks. That’s why the sample pack is only meant to test whether your dog will eat the powder mixed into its food. We don’t make any other claims.

You only pay for shipping. If it works out, you'll know where to go from there. If it doesn't, you haven't lost anything except a few francs in shipping costs.

For which dog

When the "
" movementbecomes more difficult.

Senior is for dogs in their prime whose joints and energy levels need noticeable support.
Stiff Joints

Flaxseed
Flaxseed Complex

Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum)

Not all flaxseed is created equal. When raw or simply ground, a large portion of its valuable nutrients remains unused—antinutritional factors block digestion, and the omega-3 fatty acids oxidize quickly. We process our flaxseed using a patented high-pressure cooking and extrusion process. This extraction process is backed by over 400 scientific studies.

The process destroys the anti-nutritional factors in the seed, activates the body’s own enzymes, and completely breaks down the seed. Heat, pressure, and shear force are calibrated so that the omega-3 fatty acids are released slowly and continuously along the digestive tract—not all at once, as is the case with pure flaxseed oil.

For your dog, this means high-quality plant-based omega-3 fatty acids (ALA) for healthy skin, coat, joints, and immune system. Soluble fiber nourishes the microbiome and regulates intestinal transit. Plant-based proteins and B vitamins get where they’re needed. Each batch is tested via NIR analysis for omega-3 content, protein, and fat content.

Bran
Flaxseed Complex

Bran

Bran is the outer layer of the grain, which is rich in fiber. In our flaxseed complex, it serves two purposes at once.

First, it provides additional insoluble dietary fiber, which regulates bowel transit and promotes regular, healthy digestion. Second, it acts as a technological carrier in the cook-extrusion process and ensures a homogeneous, even distribution of the valuable flax components in every batch.

For your dog, this means a balanced fiber blend that keeps the intestines moving, promotes a feeling of fullness, and ensures that omega-3 fatty acids are absorbed evenly throughout the digestive tract.

Lignans
Flaxseed Complex

Lignans

Lignans are secondary plant compounds found in high concentrations in flaxseed. They are classified as phytoestrogens and are powerful plant-based antioxidants.

We specifically use lignans because they do two things that other antioxidants cannot. They balance hormone levels—which is particularly important for older dogs whose adrenal function is declining—and they inhibit an enzyme (3-beta-HSD) involved in cortisol production. In chronically stressed dogs, elevated cortisol levels often show up in the coat: it becomes dull, flaky, and prone to increased hair loss.

For your dog, this means: protecting the body’s cells from oxidative stress, supporting a balanced hormonal system, and helping to prevent stress from showing up in the coat and skin.

Turmeric
Herbal Complex

Turmeric (Curcuma longa)

Turmeric is probably the most extensively studied medicinal plant in the world. Its main active ingredient, curcumin, is one of the most potent natural anti-inflammatory agents—it directly modulates the central inflammatory signaling pathways (NF-κB, COX-2, TNF-α).

We use turmeric because curcumin has multiple benefits: it is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, liver-protective, and promotes bile secretion. However, curcumin alone is not easily absorbed—which is why we deliberately combine it with Piper longum (piperine) and the fatty acids found in flaxseed. This combination increases its bioavailability many times over.

For your dog, this means: a key mechanism for regulating inflammation—effective for joint problems, skin irritations, and low-grade inflammation in the digestive tract. It protects liver cells and stimulates bile secretion (which in turn improves fat digestion).

Licorice
Herbal Complex

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

Licorice is the root from which licorice candy is made. It contains glycyrrhizin, flavonoids, and saponins. In traditional European and Chinese medicine, it has been used for over 2,000 years to treat stomach and respiratory ailments.

We use licorice for its dual effect. It protects the stomach lining by stimulating the production of protective mucus—which is important for dogs with sensitive stomachs or a tendency toward reflux. At the same time, glycyrrhizic acid inhibits the enzyme 11β-HSD2, which breaks down the body’s own cortisol. This ensures that more active cortisol remains available without the need for cortisone medications—a gentle anti-inflammatory effect with a significantly better tolerability profile.

For your dog, this means: protection and healing of the stomach lining, and an anti-inflammatory effect similar to that of mild steroids—but without their side effects, such as thirst, polyuria, or immunosuppression with long-term use.

Ashwagandha
Herbal Complex

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)

Ashwagandha is arguably the best-known adaptogen in the Ayurvedic tradition. The root contains withanolides, a group of steroidal lactones that act directly on the HPA axis (the body’s central stress axis).

We use ashwagandha as a key ingredient in the CALM formula because it has a regulating effect rather than a sedative one. Withanolides modulate cortisol levels—they do not artificially lower them, but rather bring them back to where they should be physiologically. In cases of chronic stress (excessive cortisol), this has a calming effect; in cases of exhaustion, it restores responsiveness.

For your dog, this means: more balanced cortisol levels throughout the day, fewer stress-related behavioral issues, and easier falling asleep—without sedation and without impairing alertness.

barberry
Herbal Complex

Barberry (Berberis aristata)

Barberry (Berberis aristata) is known as “Daruharidra” in the Ayurvedic tradition. Its characteristic active ingredient is berberine, a plant-based alkaloid with a distinctly bitter taste.

We include barberry in the liver complex because berberine works on multiple levels. It supports liver and glucose metabolism, has an antimicrobial effect against unwanted intestinal bacteria, and helps maintain a balanced inflammatory response—without displacing beneficial gut flora.

For your dog, this means: reducing the strain on the liver, supporting a stable metabolism, and promoting a calm, balanced intestinal environment.

Belarian Myrobalans
Herbal Complex

BellericMyrobalans (Terminalia bellerica)

Terminalia bellerica—known as “Bibhitaki” in Ayurveda—is one of the three fruits in the famous Triphala blend. It is rich in tannins, flavonoids, and astringent compounds.

In the Liver Complex, we deliberately use it as a single fruit rather than as part of the Triphala blend because its tannin profile is the primary focus here. It supports both digestion and liver metabolism simultaneously: the tannins and bitter compounds stimulate digestive secretions, while antioxidant plant compounds protect liver cells from free radicals and support the body’s natural detoxification pathways.

For your dog, this means: regular digestion, support for the liver as the body’s primary detoxification organ, and additional antioxidant protection for the cells.

Andrographis
Herbal Complex

Andrographis (Andrographis paniculata)

Andrographis paniculata is one of the most bitter plants in traditional medicine. It contains andrographolides—diterpenes with documented liver-protective and anti-inflammatory properties.

We use it as a key component of the liver complex because it works on two levels. First, it protects liver cells from toxic stress and supports their regeneration. Second, it inhibits key inflammatory signaling pathways (NF-κB, COX-2)—similar to traditional anti-inflammatory drugs, but without their side effects on the stomach, kidneys, or circulatory system.

For your dog, this means: reducing the strain on the liver as the body’s primary detoxification organ, helping to reduce systemic inflammation, and supporting the body’s natural detoxification pathways.

Guduchi
Herbal Complex

Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia)

In Ayurvedic medicine, Tinospora cordifolia is known as “Amrita”—the nectar of immortality. This climbing plant contains alkaloids, diterpenes, and polysaccharides, and is one of the best-documented adaptogenic plants in Ayurveda.

We use Tinospora cordifolia because it combines two mechanisms that are rarely found together in liver supplements. It acts as an adaptogen—that is, it helps the body cope better with physical and chemical stress. And it specifically stimulates the activity of killer cells and macrophages in the gut-associated immune tissue.

For your dog, this means supporting the body's natural stress response and providing a targeted boost to the immune system—which is especially important for older dogs and dogs recovering from periods of stress.

Neem
Herbal Complex

Neem (Azadirachta indica)

Neem is one of Asia's best-known medicinal plants. Every part of the tree is used in traditional medicine—we use the processed leaves and bark, which are rich in limonoids, flavonoids, and triterpenes.

We use neem because it works on multiple levels simultaneously and complements the broad spectrum of action in the liver complex. Neem has antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties—which are beneficial for the gut flora because they keep unwanted bacteria in check without harming the beneficial lactobacilli.

For your dog, this means: protection against microbial imbalances in the gut, additional anti-inflammatory effects, and antioxidant cell protection.

Long Pepper
Herbal Complex

Long Pepper (Piperlongum)

Long pepper is not the same as the pepper we use in a pepper mill. It is a distinct variety of pepper from India, known as “Pippali” in the Ayurvedic tradition. Its main active ingredient is piperine—the ultimate bioavailability enhancer.

We use Piper longum deliberately and in precise doses. Piperine enhances the absorption of the other plant-based active ingredients—for curcumin from turmeric, an increase in bioavailability of up to 20 times has been documented. The same applies to the other plant compounds in the herbal complex.

For your dog, this means that whatever plant compounds are in the product actually reach the area where they’re supposed to work. Without the carrier substance piperine, some of the valuable active ingredients would simply be excreted. Piper longum is therefore the synergistic agent within the herbal complex.

Helicteres
Herbal Complex

Helicteres isora

Helicteres isora is a plant native to South and Southeast Asia that has been used for centuries in the Ayurvedic and Siddha traditions to support metabolism and liver function. It provides saponins, phytosterols, and flavonoids.

We use Helicteres isora because it combines two properties that work well together in the liver complex. It improves insulin sensitivity—which is important for dogs with metabolic stress—and protects liver cells from free radicals through antioxidant mechanisms.

For your dog, this means: support for stable glucose metabolism and additional antioxidant protection for the liver.

Achyranthes
Herbal Complex

Achyranthes Achyranthes aspera

Achyranthes aspera is a herb native to India, Africa, and Southeast Asia that is used in traditional medicine to support kidney, liver, and digestive health. It contains saponins, alkaloids, and phytosterols.

We use Achyranthes aspera for its immunomodulatory and antimicrobial effects. Studies show that it increases the activity of macrophages and lymphocytes—gently, without causing irritation. At the same time, the plant supports kidney function, which is important during the detoxification process alongside the liver.

For your dog, this means an extra boost to the immune system and a reduction in the workload on the liver and kidneys, which work together to detoxify the body.

Hydrolyzed yeast
Yeast & Microbiome

HydrolyzedSaccharomyces cerevisiae yeast

Hydrolysis means that the yeast cell wall is broken down enzymatically. The substances released in this process are highly bioavailable—B-complex vitamins, free amino acids, minerals, and, above all, the valuable β-glucans and mannans from the yeast cell wall.

We use the hydrolyzed form because it acts more quickly than whole yeast cells. β-glucans stimulate the activity of immune cells in the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) and improve the absorption of nutrients through the intestinal wall. Mannans bind to unwanted bacteria, thereby supporting a stable gut flora.

For your dog, this means: a targeted supply of B vitamins (important for the nervous system and energy metabolism), prebiotic support for beneficial gut bacteria, and a direct boost to the natural immune system.

Brewer's yeast
Yeast & Microbiome

Brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)

Brewer's yeast is a byproduct of beer production and is subsequently inactivated and spray-dried. The result is a protein-rich yeast containing about 44% highly digestible protein, essential amino acids (lysine, methionine, threonine), and a particularly high concentration of B vitamins—including B1, B2, B12, folic acid, and biotin.

We combine brewer's yeast with hydrolyzed yeast because the two complement each other. While hydrolyzed yeast takes effect particularly quickly, brewer's yeast provides the complete amino acid profile and a concentrated supply of B vitamins. Biotin is particularly important for maintaining healthy skin and a healthy coat.

For your dog, this means: a high-quality plant-based source of protein, B vitamins to support energy metabolism and the nervous system, and biotin for healthy skin and coat. The brewer’s yeast is GMO-free and comes from a certified Swiss supply chain.

Mushroom extract
Yeast & Microbiome

Mushroom extract (Agaricus bisporus)

Our mushroom extract comes from the white button mushroom—one of the most extensively studied edible mushrooms in the world. It provides a rich source of polyphenols, β-glucans, mannans, and amino acids, all of which have GRAS status for human consumption in Japan and several European countries.

We use the mushroom extract because it acts through three independent biological mechanisms. First, it stimulates the body’s own production of antimicrobial peptides in the gut (via the Paneth cells)—which reduces the population of putrefactive gut bacteria that produce foul-smelling metabolites such as ammonia, indole, and mercaptans. Second, its polyphenols physically encapsulate odor-causing molecules, removing them from the odor cycle. Third, reactive quinone groups chemically bind the free odor compounds—preventing them from evaporating.

These three mechanisms explain why our mushroom extract not only freshens breath but also reduces body odor and fecal odor—by addressing the biological cause, not by masking the odors with flavors. Clinical studies document measurable effects after four weeks of continuous use. At the same time, the mushroom β-glucans have a prebiotic effect and boost the activity of immune cells.

For your dog, this means fresher breath, less body odor and gas, a healthier microbiome, and additional antioxidants (ergothioneine)—in a way that is selective and does not interfere with nutrient absorption, unlike activated charcoal, for example.

Lactobacillus helveticus
Yeast & Microbiome

Lactobacillushelveticus strain HA-122 · tyndallized

Lactobacillus helveticus is a lactic acid bacterium that occurs naturally in the gut and is particularly resilient to passage through the stomach’s acidic environment. We use the well-documented HA-122 strain in its Tyndallized form—which means the bacteria have been inactivated through gentle heating, but their cell walls and metabolic products remain fully effective.

We use tyndallized probiotics instead of live ones for three reasons. First: better shelf stability (no cold chain required). Second: reliable effectiveness regardless of the dog’s individual microbiome. Third: no risks for immunocompromised or older dogs. Studies show that the tyndallized form is just as effective as live strains—through postbiotics (cell wall components and metabolic byproducts) that interact directly with the gut’s immune system.

For your dog, this means: strengthening the intestinal barrier, promoting butyrate production (an important energy source for intestinal cells), increasing immunoglobulin G levels (better immune protection), and indications of improved sleep quality and reduced stress behavior—as documented in studies of older dogs.

Melon juice
Yeast & Microbiome

Melon Juice Cucumis melo

The dried juice of a specific variety of melon is one of the most natural sources of superoxide dismutase (SOD)—one of the body's most important endogenous antioxidants. SOD neutralizes superoxide radicals before they can cause cell damage.

We deliberately use melon juice in the SENIOR topping. As we age, the body’s natural production of SOD decreases—while exposure to free radicals increases. To ensure that the SOD molecule reaches the digestive tract intact, it is coated with palm oil, which protects it from stomach acid, heat, and oxidation. Each batch contains at least 65,000 IU of SOD activity per kilogram.

For your dog, this means: targeted support for the body’s most important antioxidant defense system, reduced oxidative stress, and improved vitality and ability to recover—especially for older dogs whose natural defenses are declining.

Minerals
Yeast & Microbiome

Minerals

Our source of minerals is natural calcium carbonate derived from Swiss limestone, finely ground and certified in accordance with the SN EN 12620 and SN EN 13139 standards. Calcium carbonate provides approximately 38% calcium and a small amount of magnesium.

We use a natural mineral source instead of synthetic mineral blends because we can document the origin of every ingredient. The manufacturer is based in Switzerland, and the material is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and FSSC 22000.

For your dog, this means a precisely measured dose of calcium that supports bone health, stabilizes the pH level in the intestines, and normalizes the function of digestive enzymes. Calcium also plays a role in the synthesis of digestive enzymes such as amylase and lipase.

Why a Topping?

The bowl is full.
Butthe need isn't always there.

Loose stools, a dull coat, itching, grass-eating—these are often not just whims, but signs that something is missing from their food bowl. A good complete and balanced diet is filling, but it doesn’t automatically meet all their nutritional needs.

What You Can Expect

Visible in 4 to 8 weeks
No "overnight" promises.

Days 1–7

The body adjusts. The only questions here are: Does he eat it well? Does he tolerate it? Minor fluctuations are normal.

Weeks 2–4

The first changes become apparent, usually subtly. Often, you don't notice them in the dog, but in everyday life—something familiar is missing.

Weeks 4–8

Moments form a pattern. What used to fluctuate now remains steady—the point at which most people feel secure.

Starting in Week 8

The new condition is holding steady. The effects of metabolism—coat, skin, and energy for movement—are most clearly evident here.

What you should know: In the first few days, the stool may become slightly softer as the microbiome adjusts. This is normal and will resolve on its own.

Questions & Answers

The questions dog owners ask us most often.

Is the sample pack really free?

Yes. The powder is free; you only pay the shipping fee of CHF 2.50.

How often can I order a sample package?

One sample package per variety and household. If you'd like to try all four varieties, you can order one of each.

Is 35 g enough to see if my dog likes the topping?

Yes. 35 grams is about one meal and answers the one question no one can answer beforehand: Will he even eat it?

It's impossible to tell from this amount whether there are any changes in the coat or digestion—that would take weeks.

What happens after the sample package?

Nothing. No automatic subscription, no automatic reorders without your input. If you want to continue, you place the next order yourself.

What exactly is a topping?

A dietary supplement. It’s not a replacement for your dog’s main food, but rather a powder that you sprinkle on top. It provides nutrients that are often lacking in regular dry food—without requiring you to switch foods.

How do I measure out the correct dose?

The amount depends on body weight and variety. Each can includes a complete chart—listed individually for each kilogram, in grams, and in measuring spoons. You can find the same feeding guide as a PDF on the product page under the dosage calculator.

Daily examples: A 10-kg dog receives about 10 g of CLASSIC and about 15 g of SENSITIVE, SENIOR, or BOOST; a 30-kg dog receives about 23 g of CLASSIC and about 34 g of the other varieties.

Not sure? Tell us the weight and variety, and we'll calculate the serving size for you.

Do I need to change my dog's main food?

No. The topping is meant to supplement your current food; it does not replace it.

At what age is my dog considered a senior?

Small breeds starting around age 10, medium breeds around age 8, and large breeds around age 6. Typical signs: He gets up more slowly, has less stamina on walks, and his coat loses its luster.
