The intestinal flora consists of 99 percent of four families of bacteria (Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria).
The desired bacteria in the gut support healthy digestion by controlling nerve cells that are responsible for intestinal movement, inhibiting harmful bacteria and producing nutrients for the intestinal epithelial cells through their metabolism.
